Mulam Clothes
Several hundred years ago, men of the Mulam ethnic group wore a collarless gown buttoned down the front or on the right, and trousers. Only rural gentries and officials wore a long gown or a collared jacket. Women wore a wide jacket buttoned on the right with laces and broad cuffs, a laced pailform skirt or trousers, and silver or copper necklaces, earrings, bracelets and fingerings. Young women wore a hood or a narrow kerchief. They kept their hair in bangs before marriage but changed into a bun after they got married. Old women wrapped the head with a piece of blue cloth, and wore a blue apron.
Nowadays, the costume of the Mulam people is similar to that of the Han. However, since the Luo Mulam Autonomous Prefecture was established in 1983, the renovated Mulam costume has gradually become prevalent.
