Bonan Clothes
Men of the Bonan ethnic minority always wear a white or black cap, a white gown and a dark blue waistcoat.
In festivals, they wear a woolen hat, a front-buttoned long gown with a turndown collar, a waistband, a broadsword on the waist, and a pair of long riding boots. The long gown they wear is similar to, but a bit shorter than, the Tibetan robe, and has selvedge made up of cloth in different colors. In winter, men wear a fur-lined jacket, usually brown, with a turndown collar. Different from men, women like to wear colorful costume, such as a front-buttoned jacket with a waistcoat over it, and a long gown that reaches the knees. Cuffs and edges of women's trousers have selvedge of different colors. Similar to women of neighboring ethnic minorities who believe in Mohamdmism, Bonan women like to wear a cape-like veil. Girls wear green ones; married women, black; and the old, white.
