Gelo Clothes

In the past, Gelo women wore very short jackets with sleeves and cuffs embroidered with patterns of fish scale. They wore tight skirts divided into three sections, the middle one of red wool and the upper and lower ones of black-and-white striped linen. Gelo women also wore short, blue sleeveless gowns with the front part shorter than the back part and embroidered designs on both parts. Their shoes had pointed, with upturned toes. The majority of men wore jackets buttoned down the front. Both men and women wrapped the head with long kerchiefs.

By the time the new China was founded, most Gelaos had begun to wear costumes similar to those worn by neighboring Han and other ethnic groups.
