Dongxiang Clothes

Dongxiang women usually wear embroidered broad-sleeved clothes with a neckline around the collar, buttons down the front and embroidered lace on the cuffs. They wear trousers with two embroidered laces at the end of them and on the lower back of the trouser legs there is a small split sewn with a small string to fasten the trousers. When in special occasions, they wear embroidered shoes with a heel over 1 inch. Women wear kerchiefs, and adorn the hair bun and the breast with silver accessories. Young women wear colorful woven silk cap or embroidered cloth cap and veils as well.

Men wear robes with buttons down the left and broad waistband, with knives, small bags and snuff bottles decorating the waist part, etc. They often wear a soft flat cap in white, black and brown, white shirt topped with black waistcoat, and black or blue trousers. In winter, they put on sheepskin coat for warmth.
