Xie Shoukang

Xie Shoukang, born in Jiangxi Province in 1894, was China's first envoy to the Vatican.

He graduated from the Peking University and got a PhD. Later, he studied in France and Belgium and had a good command of French, as well as some accomplishments in culture and art.

The Belgian Royal Association accepted him as a member to award his achievements in culture.

In 1942, he was appointed as China's first envoy to the Vatican and finished the term in 1946. In 1954, he was sent to Vatican as an envoy by the Taiwan authorities. After the term expired in 1967, he returned to Taiwan.
