Michael Boym (Bu Mige)

Michael Boym, a Polish missionary, came to China in the late Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and the early Qing Dynasty (1645-1911).

He arrived in China in 1646 and began to missionize in Hainan. Four years later, he went to Macao before he acted as an official in the Government of Ming Dynasty.

In 1658, he went to Thailand. As the Qing Dynasty was chasing the Ming Dynasty in exile, he could not enter China. In 1659, he died at the Sino-Thai border.

He wrote several books on China to introduce the country to Europeans
